Overview
Titan® is an infrared light device from Cutera that heats the dermis while the skin surface is protected by contact cooling. That controlled deep heating causes immediate collagen contraction and, more importantly, initiates a wound-healing response that stimulates new collagen production over the following months. The result is gradual tightening of lax skin without incisions, injections, or downtime.
Dr. Zaks uses Titan® for the face, neck, and jowls only — the areas where the treatment reliably delivers meaningful results — and he performs each approximately 60-minute session himself. It is best suited to patients with mild to moderate laxity who want improvement without surgery. Dr. Zaks will tell you honestly if your degree of laxity is beyond what a non-surgical device can address; results are gradual and cumulative rather than immediate, and a series of sessions is usually recommended.
Areas and Concerns Treated
Lower Face and Jowls
Softening of early jowling and improvement in definition along the lower face — the most common reason patients seek Titan®.
Jawline Definition
Tightening of lax skin along the jaw for a cleaner, more defined border between face and neck.
Neck Laxity
Crepey, loose skin of the neck responds to deep dermal heating and subsequent collagen remodeling.
Under the Chin (Submental)
Mild looseness beneath the chin can improve as new collagen forms over the months following treatment.
Mild to Moderate Facial Laxity
Best results occur in patients with early to moderate laxity and reasonable expectations of gradual improvement.
The Treatment Experience
Consultation and candidacy
Dr. Zaks assesses your skin laxity and elasticity and confirms whether Titan® can realistically deliver the change you want — or whether another approach is more appropriate.
Preparation
The treatment area is cleansed and eye protection is provided. No topical anesthetic or injection is required.
Treatment — approximately 60 minutes
The handpiece delivers pulses of infrared light with simultaneous surface cooling. You feel a deep warming sensation with each pulse; energy is adjusted for comfort throughout.
Gradual collagen remodeling
You return to normal activity immediately. Tightening develops progressively over the following weeks to months as new collagen forms; a series of sessions is typically recommended.
Important Information
- Dr. Zaks uses Titan® on the face, neck, and jowls only — it is not offered for the body in this practice.
- Results are gradual and cumulative. Meaningful tightening develops over weeks to months as new collagen forms.
- Titan® is not a substitute for surgery. Significant skin excess requires a surgical solution, and Dr. Zaks will say so directly.
- A series of sessions is usually recommended, with maintenance treatments afterward.
- Daily mineral sunscreen at SPF 30+ protects the collagen you build; ongoing UV exposure degrades it.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does Titan® tighten skin?
Infrared light heats the dermis while the skin surface is cooled. That deep heating contracts existing collagen immediately and triggers a healing response that produces new collagen over the following months.
How long does a session take?
Approximately 60 minutes, depending on the area treated. Dr. Zaks performs the full session himself.
Which areas can be treated?
In this practice, Titan® is used for the face, neck, and jowls only.
Is there any downtime?
No. You may have mild redness or warmth for a short period afterward, then return to normal activity and makeup the same day.
How many treatments will I need?
A series is typically recommended, with the exact number based on your degree of laxity and response. Maintenance sessions help preserve results over time.
Is Titan® a replacement for a facelift?
No. It improves mild to moderate laxity without surgery, but it cannot remove excess skin. Dr. Zaks will tell you honestly if your laxity is beyond what a non-surgical device can address.
Does it hurt?
Most patients describe a deep warming sensation with each pulse. Contact cooling protects the surface, and energy settings are adjusted to keep treatment comfortable. No anesthesia is needed.
